Pints & Pinz

Pinz Bowling Center

There's nothing like a little glow-in-the-dark bowling to bring you closer to your mate. If that doesn't work, at least you'll look ten pounds thinner under the strobe light disco lighting. Pinz turns bowling on its head with their Rock N' Bowl which allows you to bowl to the hits under mirror disco balls and strobe lights.

Datebook thinks Pinz is just silly fun. You can pick a lane to bowl, play any of the 81 state-of-the-art video games or take on the pool tables and/or air hockey in the back room. If doing all this sober sounds crazy to you, then a drink/snacks from the adjacent Jerry's Deli can be delivered to your lane. No matter how you decide to spend your evening here, you are sure to have a laugh at your gutter ball, whup Mrs. Packman and if you dare, take on an arm wrestle from a "strong man" in a game machine. Come on, embrace the kid in you.

Tip: Rock N' Bowl takes place Mon. 9:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m., Wed. 7 p.m. - 1:00 a.m., Fri/Sat 7 p.m. - 2 a.m.

Laurel Tavern

Park the diet. Sit wherever you feel comfy. Check out the chalkboard in the back, that's your menu. Saddle up to the bar and place your order. It's Laurel Tavern, your new Gastropub in the Valley which welcomes you back with every visit. Brought to you by the owner of the Library Bar, it's a hip and lively pub where every patron seems to be enjoying themselves exchanging conversation with their neighbor and munching on some delish foodie food.

With exposed brick walls, blue metal chairs, dim lighting, large windows that open to the boulevard and a butcher block table smack in the middle of the room, you will spend a moment admiring its cool and casual setting.

All beers are on tap and chosen by LA's beer sommelier, The Beer Chick. The wine selection is nice and the menu stays within $12. Burrata salad, grilled artichoke, pork belly skewers, chorizo fondue are noteworthy. 1/3 pound burgers are their thing (loved the Laurel Burger, caramelized onions, gruyere and arugula) and are served in a paper lined round cake pan with fries.

Tip: Because this place is such a hit, we STRONGLY recommend making this an afternoon date or thinking about a Mon - Wed night visit as it gets loud when packed.

Ok. These prices are averages for one person eating a meal including one drink and a tip. If you play football for the Giants and eat three main courses in a sitting, you should probably expect to pay more.

$ Thrifty, under $10
$$ Middle of the Road, $11 - $30
$$$ Gettin' up there, $31 - $60
$$$$ Go baby go, $61-100
$$$$$ Big spender, over $100.
