Connie Britton explores the merits of mayonnaise for a White Trash Couples Party.
Living in Los Angeles lends itself to living in a sophisticated environment. Mixing in Hollywood just heightens that, but the truth is, most of us come from a white trash background. I hail from Lynchburg, Virginia and everything you eat there has cream, mushroom soup or mayonnaise in it. Basically, everything you eat in Virginia is white. I thought it would be fun to host a night with my friends who are coupled and/or married with kids to get out, party in a laid back atmosphere and not have to put a great deal of effort into it-- and I could get back to my roots!
Well, it all starts with some SKRR, which stands for "shit kicking rock and roll." I also encouraged everyone to play into the theme a bit, if they so desired. Girls came with big hair, Lee Press-On-Nails, overalls and Daisy Dukes. The boys wore stained wife-beaters and cut-off denim shorts. The food is also key: pigs in a blanket, fried chips with Velveeta dipping sauce (served in a chaffing dish to keep the dip warm and prevent the cheese from getting congealed), fried chicken, Rice Krispy treats and brownies made from a box. I'm known for my brownies from a box. I love, love, love the Ghiraradelli brand and bake it in a round pan, throw some ice cream on top and share it between friends.
Yes. My mom's artichoke casserole. Delish.
2 cans of artichoke hears drained and cut into eighths
1 cup of Mayonnaise
1 cup of Parmesan cheese
Dash of Lowrey's Seasoned Salt
You mix the mayo and cheese together and line the bottom of a baking dish with artichokes. Cover the artichokes with the mayo and cheese mixture and give it a sprinkle of Lowrey's Seasoned Salt. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes until bubbly. Serve with crackers.
Almost! There were a lot of laughs, Kid Rock songs and calories shared. All in all everyone had a great time and most importantly it was so stress free.
